Interesting story about a pastor who stumbles upon a murder case that nobody thought was murder. All involved in the small town church thought Emery's passing was just old age and natural causes, but Pastor Jeff notices something that raises a flag, based on what he knew about the deceased. From there, he enlists the help of his friend, the local police chief, and they work together to crack this case. It's more of a narrative and a day-by-day account of what it's like pastoring a small, semi-rural congregation than it is your typical run-of-the-mill detective story, and that's a pleasant surprise to this reader. He talks about how to deal with difficult members, and the expectations his congregation put on him, fair or not. But when talking about the family involved in this crime, he doesn't hold back, and paints them accordingly. It's interesting to read that clergymen are human, too, and have thoughts, sentiments, and similar imperfections that the rest of us have. Very candid and eye-opening, for sure. Overall a pretty good read, and I'll be downloading the next installment very soon.

I have read 4 of the Pastor Jeff books. I find them like eating candy, can't stop reading. Reminds me of Janet Evanovich Stephanie Plum books . I look forward to reading the 5th I have already purchased. 5 stars for this series.
Really great book! Written about the town I live in so it was very funny when you recognize the people and location written about. It would be enjoyable to anyone and give a different view of "a pastor" and how theymight think, which is different than you might think it is!
This is a must read!!!! What a refreshing fun filled book. You will be glad you did!
What a hoot! Not at all what you would expect from the title so be prepared. Pastor Jeff gets himself involved in some messes, some of which are quite comical and others down right scary! His take on story telling is quite entertaining and I can picture him and the other characters quite clearly. Read the teaser for his second book and I think it will be even better. Good job Pastor Jeff !!!
Great writing style, love the detail of characters and events. A winner in the mystery genre. Jeffrey B. Miley keep them coming, looking forward to more from you.
I thought this book was hilarious. The author is a retired military policeman as well as a retired minister from Pennsylvania now residing in Florida. He also is my first cousin. This was a fictional mystery but really has a lot of parallels to this author's life. I highly recommend reading this book if you want to understand a minister's thinking process. This book actually made me realize that they are not any less of a sinner than me or anybody else. I could not put this book down and read it in one day. It kind of reminded me of Indiana Jones and what he went through. I am sure Jeff has a lot more to share with his life experiences and I can't wait to read them.
