You, Me and Other People is the life-affirming, heartbreaking and ultimately stunning debut novel from Fionnuala Kearney.

They say every family has skeletons in their closet...but what happens when you open the door and they won't stop tumbling out? For Adam and Beth, the first secret wasn't the last; it was just the beginning.

You think you can imagine the worst thing that could happen to your family, but there are some secrets that change everything.... And then the question is, how can you piece together a future when your past is being rewritten?

For fans of Liane Moriarty, Jojo Moyes and David Nicholls.

You Me and Other People (Audible Audio Edition) Fionnuala Kearney Penelope Rawlins Kris Milnes HarperCollins Publishers Limited Books

You, Me and Other People was a very well-written and well-developed story about a marriage in crisis due to infidelity. Told from both spouses point of view, the novel deftly explores the causes and consequences of lies, betrayal, and the loss of trust between marriage partners in a loving relationship. Fionnuala Kearney peels away all the emotional layers of her characters revealing their flaws, their vulnerabilities, and their personal histories, which contribute to the choices Adam and Beth make in their twenty year marriage. Several other very well-developed characters and plot twists keep the reader guessing the outcome to the very end of this thought-provoking novel. Kearney's debut novel reflects an understanding of, and a strong compassion for, the characters she has created and asks her readers to think about what they might do if their marriage was tested in such a way. Such an outstanding novel from a very talented new author!

You Me and Other People (Audible Audio Edition) Fionnuala Kearney Penelope Rawlins Kris Milnes HarperCollins Publishers Limited Books Reviews

Very similar to Liane Moriarty, my fave.
This book made me feel so many things. I'm still can't decide it I like the ending. It will be a book that will stay with me.
I loved the charachters in this well-written, fabulously resarched book. One of the main criteria for me in a good book, even more than a good plot, is characters I care about (whether or not I like them is immaterial). I really cared about all these characters in this book from the first meeting. But I found, as I devoured the book, that there were layers and layers to these characters that were peeled back gradually - one of the aspects of the book that make it so not-put-downable! I also love (as in this book) when characters have personal histories that are revealed throughout the book and become part of the plot. This book is a must-read for people who just love to read about life in all its good and bad, its happy and sad, its frustrating and rewarding. I challenge you not to connect with someone in this beautifully written story!
I loved this book! It proves that we, as humans, all have flaws that we don't want loved ones to see or have knowledge of. The why is our own personal story, and that is what Ms. Kearney has explored. I will remember this story for a long while!
Very enjoyable story, told in alternating voices of the husband and wife whose marriage disintegrates, due to "secrets and lies," as most married people can relate to. Learning the back story of heartbreak not dealt with, mental illness in a parent, and how love can still survive, though changed, after betrayal...all have illuminated how complex our relationships really are. Loved the characters and their humanity.
I really liked this book. At first I wasn't sure if I was going to like it. I got 20% in and wasn't grabbed by it so I went to see what the reviews were and they all loved it so I stuck with it and was glad I did. I thought this was going to be another wife wronged by husband but it was so much more and you actually have hope for Adam. I really was sad that it ended.
Basically, husband has affair and wife tosses him out. Bye! That were the book begins. The book then goes through the aftermath. I love that no matter how hurt she was, the wife was no pushover. As for the husband, I almost felt sorry for him. He has to deal with everybodies poor opinion of him, especially his daughter. Kind of like, uh oh, actions have consequences. My sympathy, however dried up when we learn about his other dirty little secret.
