Story held together much better than the second in the series. I didn't find the main characters quite as likeable. I was a little annoyed that they seemed to keep repeating the same mistakes over and over(like of trust and lack of full disclosure with each other. I will definitely read the next in the series though.

This is the 2nd book I've picked up by Debbie, though it's the third book in the series. I started with book 2, and then read this one and even though I haven't read the first book, I didn't get lost in the story at all, so they can be read as stand-alone books as well.

In this book we learn more about Evangeline and the new Highland King Lachlan MacLeod. Evangeline is the advisor to the new King, but trying to get him to stop his drinking and womanizing ways is almost impossible. Evageline is pretty pissed because she's trying to keep her people safe and he's off doing whatever he wants, when he should be focused on the protection of his people. She feels he doesn't care about his people at all, and he thinks she nags and worries too much.

Lachlan's mentor gets kidnapped and Evageline and Lachlan, with a few trusted others, go to save him. Lachlan and Evagline butt heads the entire way, but neither can ignore the passion that ignites in them, when they are together.

I really enjoy this series because its historical, have Fae in it, magic of all kinds and Debbie gives excellent descriptions where you feel like you're part of the story. Another favorite of mine is the details she gives some of the side characters, I'm hoping she'll either include some of them in this series, or do a spin-off of this series at some point.

If you love Highlanders, Fae, Magic, and dynamic explosions between the main characters, then you'll love this entire series. I'm a huge fan of Paranormal books, but sometimes I need a break from the typical vampire/werewolf book and this series definitely does that for me.

King Of The Isles is the third novel in Debbie Mazzuca's new series about the powerful men of the highland MacLeod Clan from the Enchanted Isles and the women who captivate and enthrall them.

This novel tells us the story of King Lachlan Macleod who lives and rules in the area of the Isles known as the Faery Realm where magic rules. King Lachlan is used to having his orders followed but is stunned when his uncle tells him to find a bride who will strengthen his alliance. Feeling forced into a strategic marriage he feels further insult when he must be aided by Evangeline a mere slip of a girl. Before the search really begins the two are thrust together into danger when they must work together to help save Lachlan's kidnapped mentor and the two realized that what they each want most may be staring them in the face. After their adventures they are soon wed but before they really find what's in their hearts they must battle the obstacles and enemies that would keep them apart.

I thought this was a very interesting and exciting story to read. The characters of Lachlan and Evangeline were forced to deal with a lot of complicated and interesting situations that caused them to develop as people and learn what they really need from one another. These two main characters were very enjoyable to read as both are complex and intriguing characters which make you want both of them to find the happiness they both deserve.

Overall, I found this a very fascinating and intriguing book to read. My only suggestion would be to read the other books in this series first otherwise it can be a bit confusing and may take awhile to figure out who is who and what's going on.

Made me want to read more a out each character in this as well as Lord of The Isles characters.
It keeps you going, never a dull moment. Characters are fun and interesting. Always like insight to the way
people lived in the past. Insight to their values, motivations and desires is very interesting. It also makes
you smile and feel the characters.
